Empowering Users
through Motion Design.

Hi! My name is Ali Said. I'm a UX Motion Designer based in the Bay Area. I provide UX Motion Design services to businesses and agencies. UX Motion Design is a relatively unknown aspect of design that can significantly improve user experience, boost engagement, and drive profitability.

"I had the pleasure of working with Ali on a project where he designed our UX Motion System. Ali exceeded all expectations with our frictionless commerce system. The final product was visually stunning, intuitive and user-friendly. I was even more impressed when I saw his work featured in the news, showcasing the impact it made on our product. I highly recommend Ali to anyone looking for a talented and educated designer. Motion drives conversions."
"I had the pleasure of working with Ali on a zero to one motion design system for an iOS/Android app. For a product focused on immersive sound and imagery for relaxation, it was crucial that transitional elements were seamless. Ali’s approach was grounded in function while being contextually relevant and improving the overall user experience of the product. He took on a mentoring role for the team as well, working closely with engineering throughout implementation to ensure the final production version was aligned to specifications. I’d recommend Ali not only as an accelerator for high priority design needs, but also for his tremendous capacity to up-skill individuals and teams."
"Ali Said is an amazing mentor and UX Motion Design instructor. With his help, I secured a 6 figure salary in under a year and improved my UI design skills significantly. His teaching style is engaging and personalized, and he is always up to date with the latest trends. Ali's dedication to his students is remarkable. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their UX and UI design skills."

My Design Process

Audit

I begin by auditing the product experience through a strategic lens—evaluating user flows, interaction models, and visual hierarchy to identify where the experience falls short or creates friction. Grounded in UX laws and heuristics, this process surfaces key opportunities to simplify complexity, improve clarity, and align the interface with both user expectations and business goals.

Design

With clear priorities in place, I lead the creation of scalable design systems and interface patterns that reinforce product strategy. I define IA structures, component logic, and high-fidelity UI rooted in platform conventions and cognitive principles. Every design decision is intentional—shaped by UX laws, usability research, and a strong understanding of brand tone—to create experiences that are both intuitive and distinct.

Dev Handoff

I ensure a seamless handoff to engineering through clean, organized files, detailed specs, and behavioral documentation. Beyond visuals, I articulate logic, responsive behavior, and interaction intent—reducing guesswork and accelerating implementation. My goal is to preserve the integrity of the design while supporting scalability and engineering efficiency across teams.

About me

I’m a Senior UX/UI Director and audio engineer specializing in high-impact digital experiences across industries in tech and media. I take a systems-level approach to design—balancing usability, brand integrity, and executional precision to drive growth and deliver measurable outcomes.

My work spans complex platforms and enterprise products, where I lead end-to-end design—from product strategy and architecture to scalable UI systems. I focus on aligning design decisions with business objectives, simplifying user journeys, and building frameworks that scale across teams and releases.

In parallel, I work in sound design and audio production, creating immersive sonic experiences for music, film, online ads, and digital content. I apply the same design discipline to audio—ensuring every detail reinforces mood, intention, and brand tone.

Based in Southern California. I collaborate with teams that value strategic design, clear thinking, and high standards of creative and technical execution.

My design philosophy is to leverage visual and motion design to achieve user and business goals. Check out my latest projects or some of my talks and as always, please feel free to reach out.
I love to create products that have impact. I've worked on mobile (Android, iOS), desktop, wearable, enterprise, and in-vehicle user experiences for some of the world's biggest brand names. My focuses are primarily UX research, accessibility, visual/motion design, and design systems initiatives.

What is the UX Motion Design process?
As a UX motion designer, my process involves auditing applications to identify opportunities for functional motion design improvements. Once I've identified these areas, I provide libraries and corresponding timing specifications to ensure a streamlined implementation.

Throughout my career, I've worked on numerous design teams and have become adept at integrating seamlessly into any team structure or pipeline. This has allowed me to collaborate effectively with engineers to ensure that the final product meets both the design and functional requirements of the project.

My goal as a UX motion designer is to create engaging and intuitive experiences for users through the use of thoughtful and purposeful motion design. By leveraging my expertise and experience, I strive to provide a holistic approach to design that considers both the user experience and technical feasibility.
How does Functional Motion improve UX?
UX motion design is a critical element in creating a user-friendly and engaging digital product. It can improve the user experience in several ways. Firstly, it can guide users by providing visual cues that direct their attention to critical elements on the screen. For instance, motion can be used to draw attention to a call-to-action button or a menu item, which can help users navigate and interact with the product more efficiently. This can improve the overall usability and effectiveness of the product.

Secondly, motion design can make the user experience more delightful and engaging. By incorporating delightful and surprising animations, designers can create an emotional connection with the user, leading to higher user satisfaction and loyalty. This can also help differentiate the product from its competitors, which can be essential in today's crowded digital marketplaces.

Overall, UX motion design plays a crucial role in creating a superior user experience. By using motion design thoughtfully and purposefully, designers can improve the product's usability, engagement, and overall effectiveness. Ultimately, this can lead to greater user satisfaction and loyalty, which can translate to better business outcomes for the organization.
